Arrival at Palermo airport in the morning and transfer to the hotel in the town centre. In the early afternoon meet your guide and the rest of the group, welcome drink. Visit Palermo highlights, Monreale Cathedral and its golden mosaics, the Benedictine Cloister. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay. 2nd DAY SUNDAY Cefalú & Castelbuono (B/D)* Breakfast. Departure for Cefalù and visit the beautiful town centre on the sea and the Norman Cathedral. Continue to Castelbuono and visit the town. Free time for lunch before driving back to Palermo. Dinner included in the hotel. 3rd DAY MONDAY Segesta & Erice (B/D) Breakfast. Departure to Segesta and visit the lonely temple of the 5th century b.c. Visit Erice with its cobbled streets and the famous pastry shops. Visit Marsala and a winery with tasting of 3 different kinds of wine. Dinner and overnight stay in Palermo. 4th DAY TUESDAY Selinunte & Castelvetrano (B/D) Breakfast. Departure for Selinunte, visit the archeological area and the Temples. Visit an oil press in Castelvetrano and sample the award winning olive oil. Light lunch included. Dinner and overnight stay in a village in the area of Agrigento. 5th DAY WEDNESDAY Agrigento & Piazza Armerina (B/D) Breakfast. Visit the Archaeological area of the Valley of the Temples. Continue to Piazza Armerina and visit the UNESCO site of the Roman Villa dating the 3rd century a.d. Before reaching the hotel, take a walk through the historic centre of Ibla with several baroque churches. Accommodation at hotel in Modica. Dinner and overnight stay. 6th DAY THURSDAY Siracusa & Taormina (B/D) Breakfast. Departure for Siracusa, visit the Greek theatre, the Roman amphitheatre and the island -city of Ortygia with the Cathedral and the Arethusa Fountain. Transfer at the hotel in Taormina. Dinner and overnight stay. 7th DAY FRIDAY Etna & Taormina (B/D) Breakfast. Excursion to Mount Etna up to 6.500 feet, visit of the extinct Silvestri side craters. Afternoon visit of Taormina (Roman Theatre and historic centre) and the charming village of Castelmola. Farewell dinner. Overnight stay. 8th DAY SATURDAY (B) Breakfast. A well balanced eight-day tour to discover the major Sicilian sights and attractions: ancient civilizations, local cuisine, beautiful landscapes, arts. This tour is planned for larger groups of at least 20 participants. (*Meals included indicated: B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner)
Arrival in Palermo and transfer on your own to the first hotel of the Tour. In the afternoon, you will meet with your Tour Escort for information on your holiday. Dinner and overnight in your hotel. If you have booked a private transfer with Sole Blu Sicilia you will be greeted at Palermo airport and transferred to your hotel. 2nd DAY (B-D)* Palermo - Monreale Breakfast. Visit Palermo, the capital of Sicily. You will see the Cathedral, the Norman Palace with its Palatine Chapel, the Four Corners, the Opera House, and Pretoria Square. Continue to Monreale to admire its Cathedral with splendid century mosaics and the Benedictine Cloister. Return to Palermo. Visit of Monte Pellegrino and Mondello, the Palermitans' favourite beach. Dinner and overnight in your hotel. 3rd DAY (B-D)* Palermo - Erice - Selinunte -Agrigento Breakfast. Visit of the beautiful area of Trapani with its famous vineyards. You will visit to Erice, a small medieval town. From there enjoy the fantastic views over the coast line. In the afternoon, visit the archaeological park of Selinunte, the largest in the Mediterranean area. In the late afternoon, you will reach Agrigento. Dinner and overnight in your hotel. 4th DAY (B-L-D)* Agrigento - Caltagirone In the morning, visit of the historical "Valle dei Templi" with its treasures: Concordia, Hercules, Juno, Castor and Pollux temples. They represent a beautiful example of Greek architecture and part of the UNESCO heritage list. A wonderful scenic drive among wheat field takes you to Caltagirone, known for the production of ceramic. Time to admire a laboratory of ceramic hand-made works and to explore this town. Lunch is taken in a typical farmhouse to taste some of Sicilian specialties. Drive toward the Eastern coast to reach the area Catania. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. 5th DAY (B-D)* Siracusa - Catania After breakfast, you will reach Syracuse, the most interesting Greek town of Sicily. Visit the famous "Aretusa Fountain", and the archaeological area with its marvelous theatre and "Ear of Dionisyus". In the afternoon walking tour of Catania to see the Baroque streets and the Cathedral Square. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight. 6th DAY (B-D)* Etna - Taormina After breakfast, across fascinating landscape you'll reach a height of 6500 feet on the slope of Mount Etna. Enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the lava flows and the Ionic Sea. Proceed to Taormina, small medieval village called "the pearl of the Ionic Sea". Late afternoon return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. 7th DAY (B-L-D)* Piazza Armerina - Cefalù - Palermo Breakfast. Today, drive in the heart of Sicily to Piazza Armerina, where you will visit the "Roman Villa", famous for its roman mosaics. Lunch at local restaurant and continue to Cefalù for a visit of the Norman Cathedral decorated with Byzantine mosaics. Continue your drive to Palermo. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Palermo. 8th DAY (B)* Palermo Breakfast, end of tour. Cooking demonstration on a rural estate followed by dinner. Overnight in
a historical residence. 2nd day (B/L/D) Agrigento - Castelvetrano - Mazara del Vallo - Castelvetrano

Cooking Holiday Weekend cookery holiday including lessons in restaurants or in private

Hotel Bay Palace Taormina Mazzarò 3*. 2nd day: Taormina - Etna/Savoca Taormina - Etna (B/D) Breakfast at the hotel. This morning visit Savoca, where scenes of The
Godfather were filmed. During the day a visit a small factory of Sicilian
typical products and a local bakery. Snack and wine tasting in an Etna winery.
